Yesterday my wife and I decide to bring yasmine to Siam Paragon where we got her a teddy bear. We decided to go late afternoon so we can see the cucul on the the huge christmas tree. On the way to Paragon the traffic was so bad. We have been in Bangkok nearly one year, one thing i cannot accept in Bangkok is the traffic..*sigh*

afternoon walk

So we decided to go out for ice-cream yesterday afternoon. There are tons of cafes/restaurants/coffeeshops in our Soi (equilvalent to simpang). We thought the "mousses&meringues/i berry" cafe would be nice.

Yasmine thoroughly enjoyed the walk to J Avenue and especially the walk home.. You'll see why from the photos.. =)

happy happy news

We got a nephew earlier this morning..! I can't describe how happy I am.. Although a little part of me was a bit sad because I can't be there with my family...

My colleagues and I were on the way from Yamsumbat (a predominantly muslim wet market) when I received the call. Deeyan and I had bet earlier on on what the baby would be.. She guessed right.. Baru jua kmarin kami ber video call and Noorul was telling me that she felt like she was going to give birth soon.. A few weeks ago she was admitted to the ward.. we thought for sure ia kan beranak.. I think she thought so too.. but it turned out to be a false alarm.. Luan brabis beraya bah.. heheheh

I'm sure Syahmi will be SO CUTE with his brother.. I want one..no.. I want four more! heheheh I need to ask Noorul how 2nd time labour was.. heheh.. I'm guessing not easier than the first.. Lambat jua gambar baby#2 ani eh!!

Congrats Noorul..! One more next year..? heheheh =) HUGS!!

Chan on the golf course

krungtep Kreeta golf course is one of the oldest golf course in bangkok. Its just take 30 minutes away from the city. This 18 holes course is punishing me because most of the water hazards lies in beetween the fairways,It requires straight tee shot so be prepare to bring extra balls..

before the action ambil gambar dulu..

rain rain go away...

*sigh*

as I look outside the window of my apartment (yes..I am still on leave..and am not skiving.. nyenye..).. I think.. There goes our day plan again.. The sky is dark.. a tell-tale sign that its going to rain again... I dont remember any recent day that it hasnt rained.. I love the occassional rain (think cool rainy days when you just want to huddle in bed with a cup of hot chocolate and a book in hand).. but non-stop rain..?

Yasmine has school tomorrow.. so taking her out in the late afternoon is not an option. We've enrolled Yasmine to a 3-day school programme..since she's still quiet young.. Jangan inda saja kan let her be with people her own age.. Its amazing to see her go on and on when she gets back from school.. Inda pandai ngalih!

She's become even more independent.. and although she's still pretty much shy with strangers.. It's great to see the things she learnt in school.. swimming (more like paddling).. play slides and swings.. speak English (we speak Malay with her mainly..cartoons thought her English b4 she started school..hehehe).. in short.. she's learnt alot...

BUT the one thing that even school has not managed to change is her EATING HABIT.. She's still VERY FUSSY.. Ms.J (her teacher) was amazed at how fast Yasmine adapted with school (ia inda nangis langsung) and how full of energy Yasmine always is.. BUT she'd be too good to be true if she didnt cause her teacher any trouble wouldnt she..? ;) hahahaha but we all agree it would take time.. She's not one to be forced.. I'm not sure if thats a good thing.. yet..

Only last night.. she (on her own will).. picked on the ikan goreng.. it's not much.. but I guess its a start...

Till later..

*toodles*

floating market

Last Sunday (6 April 2008), we decided to go to the Floating Market.. Less than 2 hours away from our place.. I forgot what province the market is in...

To our surprise.. it rained quite heavily (for Thailand standards).. we hoped that the rain would die down..but it didnt..and since we were already on the way there.. we figured we should just go.

Our driver took us to a place where we could rent boats.. And for about 1,100 baht.. Me, my wife, Yasmine, Bapa, Mummy and Peni (our maid) boarded the slim boat and headed to the Floating Market.

On our way.. we had to travel through small "canals".. my wife says that it was more "longkang" than "canals".. the water was dirty..and we began having doubts.. My parents remembered the place to be alot cleaner.. One of the downside of developments I guess..

We then passed by some stalls which sold souveniers and what nots.. some were qute pushy while others just watched and stared.. And much to our surprise.. some stalls offered use of credit cards!! Interesting.. we thought..

The best thing about it was perhaps the boat ride.. once we passed the floating market.. we made our way through a much much wider "canal" .. heheh that was fun!!
We were hoping to get fruits.. but the rain soaked our shopping spirit.. Instead we got floating market t-shirts.. which we found the next day at Pratunam market for only a third of the price.. Oh well..! Jangan inda saja kan membali..
The rain didnt stop tourists from visiting the Floating Market.. Maybe the next time.. we should catch a boat closer to the market.. so we dont have to go through the small "canals".. ehehe
